The Foundation for Water Research

Vision

FWR’s vision is a society well informed on water and related environmental matters: one whose citizens are knowledgeable about the issues affecting the sustainable management of water and are thus empowered to contribute to environmental stewardship.

Mission

FWR’s mission is to use the following means to advance the education of the public in the science, engineering and management of water resources, water treatment, water supply and use of water, the collection, treatment and re-use of wastewaters, the water environment in general and related subjects.

Forums

FWR supports four forums, Eutrophication, Wastewater, Environmental Economics and Groundwater. These promote the sharing of knowledge on important issues related to the water environment. Co-sponsored by other organisations they contain representatives of policy-makers, regulators, practitioners and researchers.

Forum objectives, technical information and regular updates on the latest meetings are posted on the FWR website.

Information Services

FWR operates a comprehensive information service.

This includes:-

  • A searchable and regularly updated website:

  • Reviews of current knowledge (ROCKS):
These documents focus on topics related to water supply, wastewater disposal and water environments, which may be the subject of debate and inquiry. The objective of each review is to produce concise, independent scientific and technical information on the subject to facilitate a wider understanding of the issues involved and to promote informed opinion about them.

  • Bookshop services:
The FWR Publications Bookshop provides a publications inquiry service as well as supplying actual documents on request in the field of water and the environment. Due to FWR’s extensive global database of publications, the Bookshop is able to source most documents whether or not they are supplied by FWR.

Exhibitions, Conferences and Networking

FWR continues to present papers and participate in exhibitions globally where there are opportunities to disseminate information and make contacts with key players in the international sphere of water and the environment.
