RBM planning – stakeholder involvement

Wales Water Framework Directive Stakeholder Group

In 2007 the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) established a Wales Stakeholder Group for the Water Framework Directive. This group has two main roles:

  • As a vehicle for the Welsh Assembly Government to inform relevant organisations of WFD developments
  • To enable those organisations to comment on those developments

This is not a decision-making body. It is WAG chaired and Wales shaped.

Further information on the WFD implementation in Wales is available on the Welsh Government website:

On 01 April 2013, Natural Resources Wales took over the work of Countryside Council for Wales, Environment Agency Wales and Forestry Commission Wales. It has also taken over some of the work of the Welsh Government.

Natural Resources Wales is now the lead authority in Wales for the Water Framework Directive.
