MANAGING CHANGE: TOOLS AND METHODS FOR ADAPTIVE RIVER BASIN MANAGEMENT NeWater - GWSP Summer School 2008 - Königswinter, Germany, 09 -19 July, 2008 (Posted 28 May 2008)
The NeWater Project together with the Global Water System Project (GWSP) are organising the final in their series of summer schools on the theme of adaptive water management. The 2008 NeWater-GWSP Summer School Series focuses on methods and tools for adaptive river basin management drawn in part from the results of the NeWater Project and, in particular hands-on experiences in processes of change.

HOW RIVERS WORK – THE ROLE OF GROUNDWATER The UK Groundwater Forum video and DVD (Posted 28 May 2008)
This video, produced by the UK Groundwater Forum in 2000, helps explain the important role that groundwater plays in the environment. The video shows the contribution groundwater makes to the flow in Britain’s rivers and in doing so provides some basic information on groundwater, subsurface dynamics and the hydrological cycle as a whole. It is now also available as a DVD.

CIRIA TRAINING (Updated 28 May 2008)
CIRIA is a member-based research and information organisation dedicated to improvement in the construction industry. It is experienced in delivering a number of training courses, notably in SUDS, wildlife and contaminated land. This year CIRIA has launched a wider range of courses. The new training packages now include CDM (The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007), Control of water pollution from construction sites, Environmental good practice on site and a range of SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) workshops. Each course is offered for individual delegates at CIRIA offices in London and other venues around the country. The training modules are designed for all levels of knowledge from less experienced professionals fairly new to construction through to professionals who have extensive knowledge and experience.

BEYOND CONSULTATION - GOOD PRACTICE IN STAKEHOLDER PARTICIPATION WITH A FOCUS ON ENVIRONMENTAL DECISIONS – 10 – 12 JUNE 2008 (Posted 28 May 2008)
The course is organised by Dialogue Matters and will take place at Imperial College London’s Wye Campus in Kent. The course aims to help participants to:
- Explore the benefits and challenges of involving stakeholders in decisions about the environment
- Understand the principles and concepts of stakeholder participation
- Learn practical facilitation skills and how to design a participation process
