UNESCO-IHE ONLINE COURSES

The UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education is an international institute for water education that was established in 2003. UNESCO-IHE also offers online courses in a number of topics of interest in the water sector. It allows participants anywhere in the world to learn at their own convenience, and apply their newly acquired knowledge in their working environment. The online courses are intended for professionals working in public and private institutions, NGOs, and academic institutions, and are suitable for those with families who want to upgrade their skills from the comfort of their own home or office. A typical course covers a four-month period, and requires around eight hours of study per week (total study load 140 hours).

The courses starting on 1 March 2008 include topics such as Integrated River Basin Management, Water and Environmental Law and Policy, Wetlands for Water Management, Integrated Coastal Zone Management and Wetland Management.

CIRIA TRAINING

The new training packages are now available with the first courses covering CDM (The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007), Working with Wildlife, SUDS, and Environmental GOOD PRACTICE ON SITE. Future training courses will include tower crane stability, green roofs, control of water pollution from linear construction and whole life costing. Each course is offered for individual delegates at CIRIA offices in London and other venues around the country. The training modules are designed for all levels of knowledge from less experienced professionals fairly new to construction through to professionals who have extensive knowledge and experience.
